Candidate for Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, November 1996. First ballot: 2nd place (out of seven candidates) with 557 votes - 22%. Second ballot: 2nd place with 570 votes (22.8%). Third ballot: 2nd place tie with 601 votes (23.9%). Fourth ballot: 3rd place with 696 votes (28.7%). Cordiano was eliminated after the fourth ballot and endorsed Dalton McGuinty for Leader. McGuinty won on the fifth ballot.
