Leader, New Brunswick Progressive Conservative Party, June 1969 - October 1987. In the 1970 elections, the PC won 32 seats (a gain of 6 seats) and captured majority governing status. In the 1974 elections, the PC won 33 seats (a gain of 1 seat) and held majority governing status. In the 1978 elections, the PC won 30 seats (a loss of 3 seats) and held majority governing status. In the 1982 elections, the PC won 39 seats (a gain of 9 seats) and held majority governing status. In the 1987 elections, the PC won no seats (a loss of all 39 seats, including Hatfield's own seat) and lost majority governing status. Hatfield resigned as Leader immediately after the 1987 elections. |
