In the 2004 elections, the Liberals won 135 seats (loss of 37 seats)
and 36.7% of the vote, but held minority governing status. In the 2006
elections, the Liberals won 103 seats (loss of 32 seats) and 30.2% of
the vote, and captured Official Opposition status. Martin resigned as
Leader in March 2006, following the loss of governing status in the
previous election.
