Third ballot: 3rd place with 601 votes (24%). Fourth ballot: 2nd place with 760 votes (31.4%). Fifth ballot: McGuinty defeated Gerard Kennedy for Leader by a vote of 1,205 (53%) to 1,065 (47%).

MISCELLANEOUS:
Dalton's father -- Dalton McGuinty Sr. -- served as an Ontario MPP (Ottawa South) until his death in 1990. Dalton's younger brother David McGuinty represents the riding of Ottawa South in the Canadian House of Commons.
