Candidate for Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, February 1992. First ballot: 2nd place (out of six candidates) with 667 votes (27.2%). Second ballot: 2nd place with 744 votes (30.8%). Third ballot: 1st place with 873 votes (35.9%). Fourth ballot: 1st place with 1,049 votes (44.2%). Fifth ballot: McLeod defeated Murray Elston by a vote of 1,162 (50.2%) to 1,153 (49.8%).
