PARTY LEADERSHIP:
Candidate for Leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party, January 1985. First ballot: 1st place (out of four candidates) with 591 votes - 34%. Second ballot: 1st place with 659 votes (40%). Third place: Miller defeated Larry Grossman for Leader by a vote of 869 (52%) to 792 (48%).

Leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party (February 1985 - January 1986). In the 1985 elections, the PC won 52 seats (a loss of 18 seats). The election reduced the PC to having a plurality government, but was toppled by a Liberal-NDP no-confidence vote in June 1985. Miller subsequently resigned as Premier, and resigned as PC Leader a few months later.
